For: Years 4-9
Attendees: 20
Day: Thursday
Improvisation is theatre without any scripts. It’s where you take suggestions from your audience and make up scenes on the spot. It’s like a rollercoaster thrill ride where laughs come easily. But it’s also a great tool to build confidence, explore impromptu comedy and engage in effective teamwork, as the more you work with others and say “yes” to their ideas, the better and better you get!
In these workshops, experienced improviser and ImproMafia ensemble member Natalie Bochenski will work on basic improvisation skills such as storytelling and characters.
There will also be a section devoted to Theatre sports-style games, to give students an introduction to how an impro show works. ImproMafia performed as a keynote creative presenter at last year’s Imagen8, with fun theatre sports style games and hilarious antics that had students in fits of uncontrollable laughter!
What students need to bring: Wear comfortable clothes and shoes as we will be moving about – and be prepared to have fun!
