Lights, Camera, Action – Print and TV Journalism

Presented by: Darren Carnell

For: Years 7-9

Attendees: 20

Day: Wednesday

It’s lights, camera and action as 20 young, budding reporters will take to the St Paul’s newsroom on July 2 at Imagen8 2014.

With their nose to the ground and a passion for breaking news, reporters will quickly acquire skills as a writer, interviewer and presenter from their editor Darren Carnell.

Mr Carnell said from the outset the reporters would obtain skills to interview and write articles that would be worthy of publication.

“This workshop is going to be electric with budding journalists finding out just how fun breaking the latest news story can be,” he said. “By the first session the journalists will have a completed story as if published in a newspaper.

The second session will see a conversion of the newspaper article into a television story.

“Finally they will have the excitement of presenting their story on camera and can take away video footage of their first-ever news read.”

Mr Carnell said his journalists would all learn a great deal while having the time of the lives.
